We have a great opportunity to take that step and join the Finance Team as an Assistant Accountant. You will develop in the role as well as get the support and training you need to succeed and to gain an accounting qualification.

More than half of our colleagues in accounting roles began their journey as assistant accountants, therefore we are keen to develop the next round of successful applicants and help them take the next step in their career.

About the role

This is a fantastic full-time opportunity based in Leeds and we would love you to join our well-established busy Finance Department.

You'll build a strong understanding of the purpose of a Finance function by getting involved in areas such as monthly reporting and budgeting.

Key to the role will be providing management information to help support decision making processes and helping ensure that our month end and year end reporting processes are delivered to a high standard. That means you’ll work on a range of activities, including, but not limited to;

Working on the month end management reporting of our performance

Helping with our statutory processes

Supporting a wide range of ad hoc reporting and financial evaluation activities

Establishing good links across the finance teams.

Please note : The selection process will consist of 2 stages.

Telephone screening calls will take place on 22nd October 2024

Assessment centre will take place 30th October 2024 (As part of the assessment centre there will be an excel test which includes : Sumifs, Vlookups and Pivot Tables)

The start date for successful candidates will be September 2025.

About you

You don’t need previous experience in a finance role, but you an understanding of finance and its operations / purpose would be beneficial.

We are looking for ambitious, hard-working, and driven individuals who can communicate with colleagues.

Alongside this, you will have a great attention to detail and a flair for numbers and analysis. You’ll have a good working knowledge of programmes such as Excel.

You’ll be committed to your learning and development, as well a commitment to gaining a professional qualification. You will relish a dynamic workload and balancing both your day-to-day work and your professional development.  As part of this role, YBS fund your accounting qualification over 3 years, so if you are applying for this role, you should be able to commit to working for us for the duration of the qualification.
