WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an ESG Lead to join our team in Liverpool, UK. You will support the development of AHK’s strategic approach to the Environment, Social and Well-being, and Governance. You will support the development of the approach and then, with the support of the Executive and Senior Management team, implement the strategy and put in place the framework to monitor its progress. You will have strong working relationships with the Compliance, Communications, and Commercial teams across the Group. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Group’s commitment to the environment, social factors, and strong and transparent governance.

RESPONSIBILITIES, REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and coordinate the maintenance of AHK’s ESG strategies. This will include developing and implementing environmental policies & procedures, action plans, and ensuring that AHK always meets relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Lead the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability management systems to continually improve the impact of the organization on the environment and audit, analyse and report performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to effectively communicate AHK’s ESG Strategy internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development teams across all commodity streams to develop and assist with commercial requirements, support with bid / projects and commercial strategic initiatives.
  • Produce ESG reports, assuming lead responsibility in the company and setting organizational sustainability targets, developing plans to meet those targets and overseeing their delivery.
  • Liaise with relevant members of the Senior Management team across the AHK Group to ensure that all ESG-focused Company documents are reviewed as required and are based on sound legislative, industry standards, or company policy / procedures by working closely with the legal department.
  • Support the company's philanthropic activities to ensure ESG goals are fulfilled.

Required Knowledge and Work Experience

  • Geographical awareness and cultural sensitivity. Proven ability to adapt to new industries / environments and workplace cultures.
  • Leadership of and / or participation in projects and / or programs.
  • Worked within an international matrix organization, working across multiple countries, time zones, and functions.
  • Experience in working with and managing a broad cross-section of people in terms of varied levels of seniority and cultural backgrounds.
  • Evidence of embracing new challenges, and quickly familiarising oneself with a new company in terms of organization structure, business goals, and internal / external stakeholders.
