This role is an opportunity for a highly motivated and dedicated Assistant Accountant (part-qualified) to join our finance team.
This position is designed for individuals who are looking to progress their career in accounting and gain valuable experience in professional services. As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the finance team in various accounting functions, utilizing your training and expertise to assist in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance.
You will contribute to the team's efforts in supplying timely and accurate financial information to support commercial decision making, ensuring adherence to accounting standards while continuing your professional development towards full qualification. The initial focus for this role will be commercial finance but the role may also offer opportunity for rotation into different finance teams, to gain exposure to a variety of business challenges and types of accounting, such as management accounts and technical accounting.
Key Accountabilities :
Budgeting and Forecasting : Aid in budget preparation and financial forecasting by collecting data and preparing reports.
Financial Analysis : Conduct basic financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
Assisting Senior Accountants : Collaborate with senior accounting personnel in tasks and projects.
Professional Development : Continue progress towards obtaining full accounting qualifications by studying and preparing for exams.
Financial Reporting : Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Bookkeeping and Record Maintenance : Maintain accurate financial records by recording transactions and updating accounts payable and receivable.
Assisting in Audits : Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial activities.
Compliance : Ensure compliance with accounting policies, regulations, and laws. Reconciliation : Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy between financial records and bank statements.
Desirable Requirements :
Part-qualified Accountant (CIMA, or other relevant body if agreed by leadership team member), with desire to work towards becoming a full-qualified accountant.
Relevant academic background in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience in an accounting role.
Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
Knowledge of Power BI, SQL or other tooling a strong advantage
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial work.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
