Responsibilities :
- Be responsible for and understand the cost basis for the office in relation to profit and loss with a view to achieving budgetary targets.
- Keeping project financial information up-to-date
- Provide monthly updates on the development of the office and team reporting to the operations director / managing director
- Be responsible for a team of staff with a view to supporting training / development and individual growth, along with expansion of the team to meet workloads.
- Reviewing client technical specifications in order to undertake tendering, project preparation and project data collection activities
- Reviewing and issuing various technical reports required by clients such as exploratory hole logs, in situ test, monitoring and data logger test data in a timely fashion at an appropriate quality
- Carrying out quality assurance checks and technical reviews of processed data, the work of more junior team members, and other technical records to ensure that the final technical output to the client is correct and of an appropriate quality
- Leading or assisting project management teams as necessary
- Using various software including the Holebase geotechnical database, Microsoft Office, internal software packages such as focal point. Training will be provided where required
- Take forward the day to day running / managing of the office.
- Helping to develop other team members as necessary to ensure they have the necessary skills and training to produce reports of an appropriate quality
- Assessing and dealing with client data queries
- To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, you may be asked to perform additional tasks that may be reasonably expected within your level of capability without additional remuneration
Qualifications and Experience :
Previous ground investigation experience, including specific experience in the production of ground investigation reports for technically demanding clients.Experience of using geotechnical database software such as Holebase (preferable), gINT, etcBSc degree level qualified in geology / civil engineering or a related environmental subject essentialMSc in a geotechnical / civil engineering or environmental discipline preferable, but not essentialIt is envisaged that the successful candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant industry experienceA good understanding of ground investigation methods including drilling techniques, in-situ testing and water, ground and soil gas monitoring techniques and relevant specificationsGood knowledge of the principal soil and rock strata encountered in the UKBe familiar with and able to interpret published geological data including geological maps, and able to log soils and rocks to industry standards including BS 5930 : 2015Be proficient at ground investigation factual report writing (experience of / ability in writing interpretive geotechnical or geo-environmental reports would be an advantage but is not required for this role).A good understanding of the purpose and meaning of geotechnical and chemical laboratory testingCompetence in the use of computer software packages required for project work (Word, Excel and appropriate data handling packages)Good oral and written skills including the ability to communicate effectively with clients and external bodiesGood project management skillsAble to ensure that reports, drawings, etc, comply with technical specifications and standardsFull, clean UK driving license essentialSalary and benefits :
