We are seeking several substantive Consultants in Anaesthesia to join the RUH (Royal United Hospital) department. These posts are linked to the opening of the Sulis Elective Orthopaedic Centre. We are looking for high calibre committed anaesthetists of proven ability who will be able to contribute fully to both clinical and managerial roles within the department. The candidates should bring skills or knowledge that will enhance and expand the services already provided. An ability to embrace change and to develop services for more effective care delivery will be considered an asset.
Main duties of the job
Clinical work will be delivered at both the RUH Combe Park site and at Sulis Hospital. Our standard theatre day is 10 hours ( PAs), but the appointee will also be expected to work planned 12-hour theatre days (3 PAs), both at the RUH and SEOC.
SEOC will deliver routine elective work at the weekend. The appointee may be expected to contribute to this on a frequency of less than 1 weekend per month with appropriate out-of-hours PA clinical work will include elective and emergency operating lists across a broad range of surgical specialties (except for cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, vascular, burns, transplant, and major trauma) plus pre-operative assessment and peri-operative care. There will be an out of hours non-resident on call commitment associated with this post.
