Finance Assistant

Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The role will be worked on a Full time in the office. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of a temporary contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £19,125 to 25,875 P / A per annum depending on experience.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

As Finance Assistant, the successful candidate will play an integral role in ensuring that the charity’s funders, donors, suppliers, volunteers and staff are paid appropriately and for ensuring that income is properly recognised in the systems by assisting the Accountant and UK Finance Manager to deliver and maintain an efficient and effective accounts system.

Maintaining all associated internal controls, policies and procedures and adhering to Accounting Regulations / Charity SORP and associated legislation via utilisation of in-house Accounts and Management systems in order to safeguard the charity,deliver value for money, save costs, mitigate risk and prevent misappropriation of income and expenditure.

We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Finance Assistant :

  • Successfully ensure that the Charity’s income from Funders and Donors are accounted for appropriately
  • Successfully prevent misappropriation of income and expenditure
  • Successfully safeguard the Charity from risk and in accordance with internal policies & procedures and external accounting regulations / Charity SORP / VAT etc.
  • Deliver value for money by ensuring due diligence checks are applied to all financial matters
  • What we’re looking for in our Finance Assistant :

  • Educated to ‘A’ Level or above, preferably in a Finance discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant role
  • Computer skills : MS Office Suite; Accounts Systems
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector
  • This would be an ideal role for an experienced Finance Assistant looking to make a difference in a rewarding role within the Charity Sector!
