About the Role
The successful candidate will gain an insight into the industry by undertaking a Level 2 Property Maintenance Apprenticeship whilst carrying out work across the department. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate commitment to learning new skills, who can use their initiative in challenging situations, identifying creative ways to solve problems and who can communicate with colleagues and customers alike.
To undertake on-site training alongside and under the supervision of a qualified Trades person in all aspects of property maintenance work, including :
Accessing and utilising appropriate work plans, job sheets, specifications, drawings / diagrams, information & data sheets, taking in account factors such as regulatory requirements and legislation, performance and quality criteria, efficiency, sustainability, and the need to reduce waste.Selecting, checking, using and maintaining tools, equipment, materials, components, compounds and parts appropriate to the task being undertaken, handling, positioning and storingthese safely, and clearing away and disposing of waste safely on completion of work, and in accordance with codes of practice.Supporting the planning, preparation and delivery of property maintenance tasks in accordance with building safety regulations and legislation.Creating a safe working environment by implementing the necessary control measures, through the identification, mitigation and reporting of risks and hazards, and in line with health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.About You

When will my apprenticeship start?
You will need to be available to commence your apprenticeship 1st September 2025
Entry / eligibility requirements
You will need to be able to provide evidence of Maths and English qualifications at grade C / 5 or above on request - Please ensure you specify these grades in your CV / supporting statement. If you do not hold these qualifications already you must be willing to work towards completing functional skills level 2 in addition to the apprenticeship. If these certificates are not UK based please also provide the UK ENIC statement of comparability Statement of Comparability.You must be willing and able to start work anywhere within the Nottingham City boundary for 8am, as required by the organisationSuccessful candidates must be committed to attend college in person at a location of NCC choosing to obtain the Property Maintenance level 2 apprenticeshipYou will need to be a minimum of 16 years old by August 31 2025. There is no upper age limitYou cannot hold a qualification of the same level and subject alreadyTo show commitment to gaining a driving license before completion of the apprenticeshipNon-UK nationals must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years, and not a resident for the purposes of education, to be eligible for this role.At Nottingham City Council we believe that work is what you do, not where you do it.
