Basic £36500 plus extras (OTE £40k plus)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our client's team on a rolling day shift pattern. This role involves maintaining and improving plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work independently and as part of a multi-skilled team on engineering maintenance tasks.
  • Proactively identify and report faults and defects and perform diagnostic and repair work on mechanical equipment and infrastructure.
  • Update and manage records in the CMMS system (e.g., SAP), documenting planned maintenance, tasks, and any defects.
  • Maintain site security and ensure work areas are clean, safe, and organized.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments and method statements for maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and statutory regulations regarding Health, Safety, Environment, Engineering, and Quality standards.
  • Execute shift workloads as directed by the management team and report operational issues affecting delivery.
  • Respond promptly to unplanned failures to meet reliability targets and report parts and materials shortages.
  • Provide tactical recommendations to management to stay on schedule and work alongside contractors as needed.
  • Participate in relevant training and development as required.
  • Person Specification

  • A proactive individual with a strong mechanical bias and experience in bulk handling equipment.
  • Demonstrates excellent fault-finding skills, particularly with hydraulic systems.
  • Committed to adhering to Health and Safety standards, including LOTO, Permit to Work, and accident reporting.
  • Familiar with statutory requirements and legislation such as Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR.
  • A dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a can-do attitude, capable of adapting to change and driving results.
  • Tenacious, persistent, and detail-oriented with a strong focus on completing tasks effectively.
  • Additional Information

  • Frequent exposure to various engineering operations areas, including stores, yard, quayside, and supporting operational areas.
  • Regular engagement with the Health & Safety team to stay updated on legal and environmental issues.
