Income Manager

An Income Manager role at Forest Research (FR), to lead and direct on financial aspects of managing the funding of FR research projects and operational delivery of Accounts Receivable, amongst other things.

The Finance Team is responsible for providing effective financial systems and support within FR. This incorporates strategic corporate and financial planning, management and financial accounting reporting and control, risk management, systems accounting, transaction processing and procurement advice.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Income Manager will :

• Lead and direct on financial aspects of managing the funding of research projects across FR; to include review of internal and external contracts in the UK and EU / overseas
• Lead the operational delivery of the Accounts Receivable function
• Review and advise the business development (BD) team and business on new commercial / science funding opportunities. To provide assurance that they are correctly costed, that contracts are in place to support the agreements, that they align with FR requirements, and do not expose FR to undue risks
• Work with the Finance Business Partner to ensure all project managers setup and monitor individual budgets for external income, supporting them with managing their project budgets, ensuring training and guidance are provided in this area
• Lead on ensuring that income is correctly accounted for, allocated and invoiced according to contractual terms
• Working with Business Development to manage and monitor the annual income commitments ensuring that contracts are received and stored for all funding agreements
• Leading, training, and developing the team to support progression
• Supporting with production of the financial accounts and audit work
• Working with Business Development to monitor and manage new business pipeline

The role can be based in Northern Research Station, Roslin, Midlothian, EH25 9SY or in Alice Holt, Farnham, Surrey. GU10 4LH. Blended working gives you the option to work some of the week from home, and some from the workplace. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
