About your new role

The Cyber, Data & Privacy team is based in London but undertakes a broad range of substantial, challenging work around the world, largely focussed on incident response, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, and litigation. The team’s clients include insurers, private corporations and public sector organisations

The team is recruiting for senior lawyer (Principal Associate) whose main focus will be to support the delivery of our services and work for current and prospective clients whilst strengthening our already solid presence within the market. The role will encompass :

  • Managing the response to cyber security incidents and data breaches
  • Advising on data protection compliance and privacy issues
  • Supporting clients in implementing their own cyber security strategies and incident response planning
  • Acting as monitoring and coverage counsel for key insurer clients
  • Working with our Cyber Lead to continue to develop and grow our cyber-focused products and services

The successful candidate will need to integrate and become a key member of our high-performing incident response team, as well be able to manage their own cases and undertake the day-to-day supervision and support of other members of the team.

About You

You will be a qualified solicitor, circa 7 YR+ PQE. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have / be :

  • Track record of solid experience in handling a wide range of cyber security and data protection matters
  • Flexible and committed to the demands of working in crisis situations when required
  • Familiarity with the UK cyber insurance market would be preferred, including knowledge of its reporting arrangements, reserving philosophies, policy coverage and interpretation, and stakeholder relationships
  • Commercially astute and entrepreneurial
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Currently working, or have recently worked, at a recognised practice in this field of work
  • Market contacts with the ability to generate new leads and business (preferred but not essential)
