  • Job Overview
  • We are seeking an Apprentice Parts Advisor to work in our Kirkwall Branch. The successful Candidate will undertake a two-year Vehicle Parts Apprenticeship run by John Deere and ProVQ supported with on the job training.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • MacGregor Industrial Supplies sells, services, repairs and hires a wide range of equipment including lawnmowers, chainsaws, ATV’s, Generators and Pressure washers. The Parts Department plays a key role in supporting all areas of the division and providing an excellent service to customers. Our Apprentice Parts Advisor will learn and carry out the following key responsibilities :
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the parts department.
  • Assist in the provision of a comprehensive parts service to the workshops, general public and account customers.
  • Provide support to customers via telephone, e-mail and counter enquiries, including sales order processing.
  • Pro-actively sell parts to customers.
  • Learn how to operate company computer systems and use efficiently.
  • Understand parts inventory control including purchasing, receipt, storage, issue and despatch.
  • Identify and resolve stock control issues and liaise with department supervisor and colleagues.
  • Stock replenishment.
  • Carry out rolling stock checks to ensure stock levels are accurate.
  • Provide direct support to all levels of MIS Ltd staff towards maintaining the highest level of customer service and upholding the good name of MIS Ltd.
  • Understand the importance of processes and procedures and the need for an organised and tidy work environment.
  • Skills and Experience
  • Willing to undertake a detailed training programme and commit to attending any relevant training blocks at an external location, which may require travel and staying away for up to 1 week at a time.
  • Have good communication and customer service skills when dealing with customers and colleagues.
  • Be a good team player.
  • Be organised and methodical when approaching tasks.
  • Possess good numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
