Job description

CONSULTANT IN LUNG CANCER, PLEURAL DISEASE AND RESPIRATORY MEDICINE

Applications are invited to apply for the above post for the Respiratory Department at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Pleural, Lung Cancer and Interventional Bronchoscopy team at OUH. The Oxford Pleural Unit is internationally renowned, and at the forefront of research, training and clinical innovation and delivery. The unit is one the most clinically active in the UK and performs more pleural biopsies than any other centre, and strong links to clinical trials, translational and laboratory-based research units. The lung cancer team are similarly forward thinking, implementing the nationally recognised REDS cancer pathway at the local Community Diagnostic Centre. The unit works closely with Thoracic Surgical colleagues to deliver a wide range of interventional procedures, including ultrasound guided techniques, thoracoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, stenting, endobronchial valves and navigational bronchoscopy.

OUH leads work aligned to deliver novel pathways incorporating AI and nodule follow up, and have recently implemented a Targeted Lung Health Check Programme.

This replacement post is predominantly a pleural sub-specialty post and will contribute to clinical and procedural work, research, QI and service development, and educational aspects of the service. The post will cross-cut into the lung cancer team and the Respiratory Early Diagnostic Service. Contribution to the substantial research agenda in the University of Oxford will be encouraged.
