Job summary

LCW are currently recruiting for General Practitioners to join our bank of staff.

As an Out of Hours GP, you will be responsible for providing primary healthcare services to patients during evenings, weekends, and public holidays. This role is ideal for a GP who is looking for flexibility and a challenging yet rewarding environment who enjoys urgent care and thrives on effective working.

Patient will have been triaged by NHS 111 or by clinicians working in the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) or GP out of hour triage queue.

Main duties of the job

As an Out of Hours GP, you will be responsible for providingcomprehensive medical care to patients presenting with acute primary care conditions during out of hours. You will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of primary care health issues including urgent primary care presentations.

Within the PPCs, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and administrative staff, to ensure high standards of care.

Our out of hours PCCs play a crucial role in ensuring that patients have access to urgent primary care outside of regular surgery hours. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced General Practitioner (GP) to join our dynamic team.

We have multiple PCCs covering NCL and NWL with plans to increase our number of clinics in collaboration with the ICBs.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using our electronic health record systems.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of primary care health issues including urgent primary care presentations.
  • Provide advice and support to patients and their families, ensuring clear communication of treatment plans and arrange appropriate acute onward referral as needed.
  • Participate in clinical meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
  • Able to engage and reflect on feedback and comply with organisational policies with regards to incidents and complaints
  • Keep to time allowing LCW to deliver safe and effective care in time frames to make the patient journey as smooth as possible. The PCCs operate at 15mins appointments with an expectation to complete 4 cases per hour.
  • Be able to supportwith telephone triage in the event workbooks for face-to-face slots are not full.

  • 1. Previous experience working in an out of hours setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Qualifications

  • 1. Full GMC Registration with license to practice in the UK.
  • 2. MRCGP qualification or equivalent
  • 3. Member of the Performers List.
