Job Summary :

Reporting of the actual results of the subset entities within the segment on a quarterly basis and other reporting requirements of the entities that are included in the share of segment. Support to the wider business through provision of financial information relevant to the entities.

The office, retail segment includes c£6bn (80%) of the Group’s overall property portfolio and c.£290m (60%) of the Group’s revenue and is therefore the largest of the Group’s operating segments. The main revenue stream for the segment is from the Group’s external tenant rents but there are a number of others including promotion fund, level 39, turnover rent and dilapidation income.

The corporate segment represents the Group’s significant G&A costs as well as inter group dividends and holding company structures.

The role will assist the finance team to ensure an efficient quarterly close process for shareholder reporting and interim and year end statutory financial reporting as well as high quality management information, analysis and insight is available.

Salary : £65k

4 days office / 1 WFH

Main Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for subset of entities within Office, Retail and Corporate segment, involving a detailed quarterly review of each entity’s TB and associated support schedules and correction of errors to ensure that financial information is accurate, and entries are recorded in the correct entities and on the correct Yardi codes;
  • Working in partnership with the Commercial Finance team to make sure that quarterly segment reporting is prepared accurately and in accordance with the requirements of the Group’s main reporting deadlines;
  • Ensure intercompany billings for the segment are up to date;
  • To calculate, post and prepare documentation for intra-group transactions annually and quarterly where required;
  • To create and maintain accounting spreadsheet models for use within the department as the need arises;
  • To prepare calculations and schedules for the disclosure requirements of the segment subsidiaries under UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • To prepare Jersey management accounts where necessary;
  • To prepare other various quarterly and half-year reports as required;
  • Delivery of the UK GAAP or IFRS compliant annual financial statements within the required timeframe;
  • Liaison with auditors and dealing with audit queries;
  • To assist in the application of new accounting standards as necessary, including FRS 102 and IFRS;
  • To identify and implement Yardi system improvements;
  • To perform prospective tenant creditworthiness analysis;
  • To assist in the preparation of iXBRL format accounts for submission to HMRC;
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

What We Require of You :

  • Must be qualified ACA or ACCA and have experience in a hands-on accountancy role including the preparation of financial accounts.
  • Must possess an outstanding academic record, with a strong mathematical competence.
  • Must have a good understanding of accounting standards; including old UK GAAP, FRS 102, IFRS and Companies Act requirements for financial statements.
  • Must possess good general IT skills and be an advanced user of MS Excel. Familiarity with macros and VBA is preferred. Experience in using Yardi and Caseware Accounts Production software or similar software would be advantageous.
  • Must be hard-working, meticulous and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Must be able to take ownership of tasks and bear responsibility for work produced.
  • Must be an excellent team player, with a flexible and willing attitude to work and able to communicate effectively at all levels.
