Job Title : Autism Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location : Wareham

Salary : £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on experience)

Start Date : Immediate

Contract Type : Full-Time, Permanent

GSL Education are ecstatic to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and empathetic  Autism Teaching Assistant (TA)  to join a supportive school community in  Wareham . In this vital role, you will provide tailored support to  students with   Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , helping them to engage with the curriculum, develop social skills and achieve their full potential.

About the role : As an  Autism Teaching Assistant (TA),  you will provide personalised care and support to students with autism. This role allows you to make a positive impact on their well-being and overall development as they follow their educational health care plans.

Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For :

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Implement tailored strategies and interventions to support the unique needs of students with ASD, fostering their academic and social development.
  • Assist teachers in creating and maintaining an inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents and other relevant professionals.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote understanding and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder within the school community, contributing to a supportive and inclusive ethos.

The Successful Candidate Will :

  • Previous experience as an  Autism Teaching Assistant  in a school or similar role is preferred or specific training in supporting  students with ASD .
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and effective strategies to support their learning and development.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to providing high-quality support to students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to adjust to the changing needs of students with autism.
  • A caring and patient attitude when supporting students with different needs.
  • Have an  updated CV  ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and  an enhanced DBS  registered to the  Update Service  (or be willing to apply for one).
