Job Title : Envelope Manager / Façade Manager – Volumetric Residential ProjectLocation : Chatham, KentContract Type : Freelance – 12 month contractStart Date : June 2nd 2025About the Project : Our client is working on a large-scale volumetric residential development, comprising three distinct blocks (staggered programme), and we're looking for an experienced Façade Manager to join our clients project team. This is a technically challenging, design-rich project with a wide range of modern and traditional envelope systems in play.The Role : As Façade Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the envelope installation across all three blocks – not concurrently – ensuring quality, safety, and programme are met. You’ll be the key interface between site teams, subcontractors, and the design office, so strong communication and technical understanding are essential.Envelope Systems Include : Roofs : Natural slate pitched roofs, Sika twin ply, Bauder single plyFacades : Brick slip on SFS, Printed brick panels on modular units, Curtain walling, Render systems, Traditional brickworkKey Responsibilities :
- Coordinate and oversee façade and roof system installations across the project
- Liaise with the design team to understand detailing issues and assist in developing and implementing practical solutions
- Monitor quality and compliance across all envelope works
- Manage sequencing and access requirements, working closely with the scaffold contractor – a sound understanding of scaffold types and coordination is crucial
- Ensure fire strategy requirements are understood and executed, especially fire stopping and segregation around modular interfaces
- Drive coordination between trades working within and adjacent to envelope zonesRequirements :
- Proven experience managing a range of façade and roofing systems on complex residential or modular projects
- Solid understanding of SFS, modular interfaces, and traditional construction
- Strong grasp of fire segregation principles and regulations, particularly in modular builds
- Ability to interpret design drawings, identify issues, and contribute to technical resolution
- Excellent communication skills with site teams, design office, and subcontractors
