Part-Time Teaching Assistant – 1 : 1 Support (ADHD) – Thornton

Location :  Thornton

Start Date :  ASAP

Hours :  Full time

Pay Rate :  Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract :  Flexible

Teaching Personnel is seeking a caring and proactive Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 child with ADHD in a Thornton primary school. This is a mornings-only role, starting after the Easter half term, providing 1 : 1 support to help the child stay engaged, focused, and reach their full potential.

The Role :

  • Providing 1 : 1 support for a Year 6 child with ADHD, helping them stay on task and manage their emotions.
  • Implementing structured routines to promote focus and positive learning behaviours.
  • Using de-escalation strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities and support progress.
  • Encouraging independence and boosting the child’s confidence and self-esteem.

The Ideal Candidate :

  • Experience working with children with ADHD and additional needs.
  • Ability to use strategies to manage attention and behaviour effectively.
  • Patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication skills to work with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Relevant TA qualifications or experience in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
