Job summary

Due to expansion of services to include Tiers 3 and 4 services, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed therapeutic radiographer to lead our Gamma Knife Services (all tiers including paediatric).

We have a positive "can do" culture embedded in our multiprofessional team working that prides itself in delivering an excellent patient experience.

To succeed in this role it is essential that you have previous experience in Gamma Knife, have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be patient focused in all that you do. This role has many facets including management, radiation protection and the training and education of others to a very high standard.

This is an exciting time to work in the Bristol Gamma Knife Centre, developing new treatment pathways for the region.

The applicant will require change management skills to implement these new treatment pathways.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for all clinical work in The Gamma Knife Centre, including working out of standard hours as required.
  • To provide accurate and detailed information and support to patients and carers regarding pre-treatment assessment and treatment delivery, also ensuring that any staff caring for patients in an emergency situation, have access to relevant guidance and information to ensure safety.
  • Be recognised and accessible as an expert in their specified field of Gamma knife treatments, continuously developing clinical practice, giving expert advice and disseminating knowledge to the profession and to a wider health care arena.
  • To assist in all aspects of department management, deputising for the Radiotherapy Services Manager as and when required, in the appropriate forum. To be involved with the development of radiotherapy services.
