There is an opportunity at Buckie Lifeboat Station for a Senior Station Technician to join the team. Your role

As a Senior Station Technician, most of your time will be spent ensuring that the Severn Class All Weather lifeboat is kept in the best possible condition. You will also ensure that the Lifeboat Station functions on a day-to-day basis. You will be involved in training volunteer crew members - so that when an emergency shout does occur, you, your crew, and your lifeboat will be absolutely prepared.

Your role will include :

  • Inspiring and motivating your team; supporting their development, conducting shore-based training, identifying ways they can improve and imparting your valuable knowledge.
  • Meeting and talking to the general public about your station’s work.
  • Taking a lead on Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment issues, helping to develop a positive culture within the station.
  • Spending time in the day to day running of the Lifeboat Station; this may be in the form of answering e-mails, ensuring records are maintained and working with the Operations Team.

    • About you

    You will have the ability to build effective relationships with volunteers at the lifeboat station, the supporters locally and RNLI staff beyond, while acting as an ambassador for the station and the RNLI within the community.

    You will be someone who already holds or is willing and able to work towards the required qualifications and competencies for this role.     You will be personally motivated, prepared to work in isolation and as part of a team, keen to solve problems, drive your own development and support others to develop.     To be considered for the role of Senior Station Technician at Buckie Lifeboat Station you will need :

  • Time served engineering apprenticeship or a sound background and proven experience in mechanical / electrical or electronic engineering. Knowledge and experience of the operation, maintenance, and repair of marine diesel engines.
  • To demonstrate leadership and management qualities, and the ability to motivate and maximise people’s potential.
  • The potential to be a passed-out as an RNLI ALB Afloat Mechanic.
  • Experience of fulfilling a Lifeboat Mechanic role or equivalent, with the capacity and willingness to develop skills in other areas of seagoing duties.
  • You will live in the town of Buckie to be able to respond to pager demands.
