Job summary

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust inviteapplications for the position of Theatre Scrub Team Leader for our site atDarlington Memorial Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Prioritise dailyactivities to respond to changing circumstances, providing a seamless serviceto users.

Develop work plans and allocate work, consistent withdepartmental objectives, ensuring these are realistic and achievable, takinginto account multidisciplinary team members abilities and developmental needs.

Contribute to recruitment and retention using agreed methodsand protocols for staffing and skill mix

Objectively assess the work of multidisciplinary teammembers, providing clear constructive feedback in a manner most likely toimprove / maintain performance.

Contribute to the ongoing audit cycle to identify issueswhich arise during the perioperative phase. Participate in effective implementationof measures to combat these issues.

Participate in direct care needs of the patient, providingexpert knowledge of clinical specialities and act as a role model

Monitor the standards of assessment, planning,implementation and evaluation of patient care.

Be proactive with audit and monitoring ofdocumentation to ensure that it is produced in accordance with Trust policy andalso NMC / HCPC guidelines.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

To provide patient care within the perioperative environmentand act as a skilled member of the multidisciplinary team.

To assess care needs, develop programmes of care andimplement and evaluate these programmes of care, carrying out all relevantforms of peri-operative patient care without direct supervision over a 24 hourperiod, caring for both adult and paediatric patients undergoing routine andemergency surgery.

  • Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner.

  • Experience as a Registered Nurse / ODP within the Operating Theatre.Teaching and assessing qualification or willingness to work towards.Diploma or degree or willingness to work towards or relevant practical experience within the department specialities. Leadership qualification.
