This is a full time substantive post in obstetrics & gynaecology, with a focus on obstetric scanning / fetal medicine. There is a contribution to the non-resident on call rota for both obstetrics and gynaecology. This is a replacement post but with a particular emphasis on supporting and developing obstetric scanning services and training on site. This supports the recent opening of the Sub-regional Neonatal Intensive Care centre (SuRNICC), and the centralisation of specialized neonatal & perinatal services across North Wales on the Glan Clwyd Hospital site. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to develop & lead perinatal services, the department is interested in supporting the development of links & networking with neighbouring specialized services.

The post will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital in central North Wales. The post is advertised as 10 sessions per week, additional sessions may be available by mutual agreement, less than full time may be considered for a suitable candidate.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to participate within the non-resident third on-call rota, which is currently 1 : 8 weekday nights and 1 in 10 weekends, with prospective cover for leave.

There will be a commitment to undertake general obstetrics & gynaecology work. In addition, this is a new post specifically aiming to support the development of the high risk obstetric & perinatal service on site, and specifically to develop consultant obstetric scanning / fetal medicine service on site. This will support the increased complexity of cases resulting from the recent opening of the Sub Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre for North Wales (SuRNICC) at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
