Southern Planning Practice Ltd are independent planning consultants specialising in urban and rural town and country planning catering to both private and public sectors.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Architect located in Twyford. We expect a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.

Job Purpose

  • To provide CAD drawings and plans for the submission of planning applications and related planning submissions
  • Liaising with clients and members of the planning team on drawing requirements and surveys for planning submissions, including meeting their needs and preferences, and understanding project scope and budget
  • Developing design concepts, project plans and proposals in response to client briefs
  • Advising clients on potential challenges, such as Building Regulations requirements, Building Codes, fire risk and environmental impact
  • Coordinating with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to create comprehensive architectural plans
  • Presenting design proposals, 3D models, and detailed drawings to clients
  • Evaluating building materials and technologies to recommend the most suitable options for each project
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in architecture and construction

Key duties

  • Provide initial advice on new enquiries and fee quotations for new drawing work
  • Undertake site / building surveys and commission topographical surveys
  • Prepare plans and development proposals
  • Architectural drawings
  • Detailed design and layout
  • Photomontages and visualisations of development proposals
  • Assisting in the full range of activities undertaken by the Practice
  • Experience / Skills Required

  • Strong proficiency in architectural software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and Vectorworks to design and present architectural solutions
  • Understanding of architectural principles and techniques to create sustainable and aesthetically pleasing designs
  • Ability to work with Microsoft 365, Outlook (email) and Word
  • Knowledge of building codes, laws, and regulations to ensure designs are in compliance
  • Able to work with strict deadlines and excellent problem-solving abilities to address design issues and provide practical and innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated ability in project management, with strong organisation and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Full driving licence

  • Keen attention to detail for creating detailed architectural plans

  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Qualifications

  • Architectural Design and Project Management skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Experienced in architectural software and tools
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related field
