Mental Health School Support Assistant

400-£600 per week (dependent on experience)

Full-time and part time options available

We are seeking a dedicated School Mental Health Assistant to join one of our schools in Nottingham. In this rewarding role, you will provide specialized mental health and wellbeing support to students in a primary school setting, helping them navigate emotional challenges and develop positive coping strategies.

This position is ideal for psychology graduates looking to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting while making a meaningful difference in young people's lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support sessions for students
  • Assist in identifying early signs of mental health concerns
  • Implement evidence-based interventions under the guidance of school counselors
  • Support students during periods of heightened anxiety or emotional distress
  • Collaborate with teachers to create inclusive classroom environments

Person Specification

Essential

  • Genuine passion for supporting young people's mental wellbeing
  • Excellent active listening and communication skills
  • Empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental approach
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
  • Resilience and emotional intelligence

  • Experience working with children or young people in any capacity
  • Knowledge of child development and adolescent psychology
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures
