PHP Developer – Insurtech | LAMP Stack | OOPHP | Remote UK 🚀

Salary : £45,000 – £55,000

Location : Fully Remote (UK only)

Tech Stack : PHP (OOPHP), MySQL, Apache, Linux, JavaScript, HTML / CSS

The Company

We're working with a fast-growing Insurtech company that’s reshaping the insurance experience through smarter tech and streamlined platforms. With strong backing and a thriving user base, they’re now scaling their engineering team to build out the next generation of their platform.

The Role

We’re on the lookout for a PHP Developer who loves clean, scalable code and wants to focus on true object-oriented PHP, not frameworks. This is a backend-heavy role, ideal for someone who enjoys architecting systems from the ground up and wants a voice in technical decision-making.

You'll be working on greenfield development, building new features and improving usability, performance, and scalability across their core insurance platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building robust, scalable backend services in pure OOPHP
  • Developing and optimising APIs, integrations, and internal tooling
  • Collaborating with a close-knit tech team on architecture and system design
  • Writing clean, maintainable code with a focus on performance and readability
  • Supporting ongoing enhancements and usability improvements

What You’ll Need

  • Solid commercial experience with PHP , specifically object-oriented PHP without reliance on frameworks
  • Strong understanding of LAMP stack development
  • Proficiency in MySQL , RESTful APIs, and vanilla JavaScript
  • Appreciation for clean architecture, SOLID principles, and design patterns
  • Experience working in a collaborative, agile environment
  • Nice to Have

  • Insurance, Fintech, or other regulated industry experience
  • Exposure to containerisation (Docker) or basic DevOps
  • Experience working on B2B SaaS platforms
  • Why Join?

  • You’ll be building meaningful products in an industry ripe for disruption
  • Be part of a growing, well-funded company with a flat structure and lots of autonomy
  • Flexible working (fully remote or hybrid – your choice)
  • Generous holiday allowance, L&D budget, and more
  • Ready to build something that matters?
