Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable students and helping them succeed in education? We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Primary School working 1 : 1 assisting a pupil with challenging behaviour

About the Role :

As a Teaching Assistant working on a 1 : 1 role, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to a student who has experienced challenges in mainstream education. You will work alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver both academic and emotional support, helping students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons helping the student engage with learning materials and activities.
  • Provide 1 : 1 and small group support for students with a variety of learning needs, behavioural challenges, and emotional difficulties.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where students feel supported and encouraged.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to help improve their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Help the student manage their behaviour and emotions, using strategies to de-escalate situations and promote positive outcomes.
  • Support the student in both academic and personal development, ensuring they are given the tools to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and parents to monitor student progress and well-being.

What We’re Looking For :

  • Experience with children and young people : Experience working with students who have social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties is desirable but not essential. A strong desire to support students with diverse needs is key.
  • Resilience and patience : The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations is essential.
  • Strong communication skills : You’ll need to be able to engage with students in a way that is clear, supportive, and empathetic.
  • Adaptability : The ability to work flexibly across different key stages (KS1 to KS4) and with students who may present a range of complex needs.
  • Commitment to inclusion : A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students and promoting positive change.
