Job summary

We are seeking a distinguished and experienced professional to serve as the Chair of Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) Steering Group which is part of the NHS and focuses on haemovigilance.

This honorary position is pivotal in guiding the strategic direction of this organisation and ensuring the successful implementation of key initiatives to enhance transfusion safety in the UK.

Time Commitment :

  • Flexible, with an expected commitment of 4 hours per month
  • Participation in 6 monthly Steering Group meetings, monthly catch-up meetings with the SHOT Medical Director and additional strategic planning sessions as needed

  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems, policies, and best practices.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Passionate about advancing healthcare quality and innovation.
  • Commitment to improving patient and staff safety.
  • Prior transfusion experience and association with the SHOT Steering Group and Working Expert Group activities is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Extensive experience in a senior leadership or safety role within healthcare
  • Proven track record of strategic planning and execution of safety initiatives in a healthcare setting.
