UK - Manufacturing Associate - Units 3&4

Corin is seeking Manufacturing Associates to support the manufacturing function to produce our products against the plan in a timely and quality-driven manner. This is a double day shift role (20% allowance) based in Cirencester, working earlies one week and lates the next.

The Manufacturing Associate will operate, inspect, load, check, and deburr orthopedic parts which have just been produced, or set to be run on the CNC machines and robotic work centers.

As a Manufacturing Associate, you will also operate and work on assembly and a number of the following machines : laser marking, shot-blasting, drag machine, grinding wheels, spindles, the rumble, high energy finisher, Robotic Linishing / Polishing machine, Manual Linish / Polish Spindles, in-process clean and intermediate cleaning operations.

You will also pre-load work centre racks with planned batches, to ensure plan adherence levels can be maintained and achieved.

The key responsibilities of a Manufacturing Associate in line with SQDIP include

SAFETY

  • Work and adhere to Corin’s Health & Safety procedures and processes, as well as conform with legislative requirements.
  • Wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
  • Challenge individuals who are not demonstrating good health and safety practices.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and good housekeeping is maintained at all times.
  • Escalate any risks immediately, by reporting to Manufacturing Management and ensure any potential risks or hazards are always reported via the ‘near miss’ option on Mestec.
  • Dispose of all waste correctly and appropriately including liquid waste, de-burring blades, excess metal, and plastics, as well as machinery or tooling.
  • Adhere to and complete manual handling procedures ensuring evidence is recorded within the eTMS.
  • Adhere to and complete COSHH Level 1, ensuring evidence is available within eTMS.

QUALITY

  • Perform first-line quality checks on all orthopedic parts (hip, knee, ankle, and shoulder) as they are run off the machines and Robotic lines.
  • Inspect items using various measuring tools which include Vernier, caliper, Keyence, CMM, and Micrometre, following all the necessary work instructions and standard operating procedures in line with compliance.
  • Support Quality in highlighting and reporting quality issues, understand the NCR root cause & support the resolutions.
  • Ensure that process & timeline requirements for Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) are met following Corin’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in support of Corin’s Global Objectives for CAPA.
  • Awareness and understanding of Quality KPIs reported at SSU meetings.
  • Adhere to all work instructions, general visual aids, and standard operating procedures in line with the relevant processes.
  • Enforce Good Documentation Practice (GDP) by populating and completing all necessary paperwork and maintaining accurate record-keeping
  • Take responsibility of your training records to ensure they always comply with all quality standards.
  • DELIVERY

  • Actively contribute & deliver improvement ideas, aiming for a minimum of two approved KAS submissions per year.
  • Maintain the 5S methodology throughout the shop floor – Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to understand lean principles and avoid 'batch building'.
  • Raise and immediately communicate any issues or possible delays to achieve plan adherence levels at the SSU meetings, or beforehand where possible
  • Report all equipment failures
  • Ensure workstation Work in Progress (WIP) racks are pre-loaded with priority batches for the following shift.
  • Adhere to the production plans in sequential order. Contribute to SSU.
  • Scan all batches ensuring all details are correct and accurate on and off within Mestec.
  • Place batches on the correct racks, to ensure delivery times are not hampered and ‘On Time Delivery’ (OTD) can be measured accurately.
  • Provide two-week notice for any planned leave.
  • Be punctual and have a great attendance record - Ensure absenteeism is kept to a minimum.
  • Avoid or minimise getting any sort of warnings (written or otherwise), improvement or performance notices, or PIPs against your name.
  • INVENTORY

  • Ensure production costs are accurate, by utilising tooling, and other consumables to the set tool life or usage rates.
  • Ensure consumables are booked out correctly, to ensure stock levels are accurate and maintained.
  • Report any consumable issues, to feed into Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Highlight ‘bottle neck’ or more time-consuming operations, to management, to ensure flow through the shop floor processes.
  • PEOPLE / PRODUCTIVITY - The ideal Manufacturing Associate for Corin will have / be

  • A good standard of general secondary education ideally Maths and English GCSE’s or equivalent
  • Accountable, quick learner, approachable and demonstrates strong collaboration skills.
  • Basic knowledge of reading technical or engineering drawings would be advantageous
  • A strong eye for detail and / or previous experience of using measuring equipment
  • Good dexterity - desire to learn manual manufacturing processes and techniques including linishing and polishing.
  • An appetite to learn or intrigued by engineering and manufacturing with a desire to operate and set CNC and Robotic machines in future.
  • Willing and able to be trained in our appropriate procedures (SOP’s, WI’s, STM’s)
  • Will complete, fully understand, and incorporate our internal Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) training into their everyday work life.
  • Positive attitude and behaviour at all times.
  • Flexible and amenable – the ability to work different shift patterns if required
