Job description

Pickstock supply high quality British beef to wholesalers, food service professionals, and retailers across the UK and international trade. At our site at Pickstock Telford, we slaughter, process and despatch the produce out to internal and external customers.This role will be working alongside an active Abattoir, during the process of slaughtering and de-boning cattle.We are excited to advertise for Experienced Butchers to join our fast-paced, expanding company. As an integral part of the food supply chain there has never been a more exciting time to join Pickstock!Purpose of the RoleReporting to our Boning Hall Manager, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to earn within 6 levels of butchering, starting from beginners (packing and basic knife skills) - to experienced specialist butchers. 4.30pmStandard hourly rate of between - £12.21ph - £16ph depends on experienceWeekly Boning Hall BonusCandidates that are shortlisted at application stage will be invited for a knife skill test during interview to assess the capability of the employee to decipher skill level and salary.Previous experience : The essential experience to be successful within the position are;Previous experience working within a food manufacturing environmentHave knife skillsHave an understanding of quality control and food safetyDesirable experience for a high-level candidate is;Specialist knife skills for trimming or de-boningExperience of animal carcasses and de-boning and trimming techniquesResponsibilities will include : Ensuring product is packed into the correct boxes in line with customer specificationGaining specific product knowledge to bag different cuts of meatUsing OCM machinery to create labels ready for DespatchUsing the Vakpac machine ensuring product is sealed ready for DespatchDe-boning carcasses using specialist knife skills, based on customer and company specificationsTrimming of raw beef meat based on customer specification and internal requirementsAdhering to health and safety requirementsFollowing Quality Assurance processes and proceduresQuality checking for contamination and customer spec on a daily basisUndergoing training and upskilling where requiredJob rotation to ensure product fulfilment on a daily basisOther duties as and when required by the businessThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop through the skill levels of the business, with internal training and development.Job Types : Full-time, PermanentPay : £12.21-£16.00 per hourAdditional pay : Bonus schemeBenefits : Free parkingReferral programmeSchedule : Monday to FridayOvertimeExperience : Knife skills : 1 year (required)Work Location : In person
