Job description

About the role :

Are you an organised and detail-oriented individual with a passion for transactional finance? We are looking for a dedicated Banking Assistant to join our Cash and Banking team, where you will play a key role in processing and reconciling transactions in line with Society procedures.

You will ensure all unreconciled items are accurately recorded, resolved, and contribute to producing precise bank reconciliations in line with our reporting timetable. You will also be responsible for maintaining process documentation, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting the implementation of enhancements with the guidance of the Senior Banking Assistant.

In this role, your responsibilities will include :

  • Maintaining and updating all process documents to give a full and accurate overview
  • Investigating all transactions in order to prevent fraud
  • Completing regular reconciliation of Cashbook and Statement items in bank and reconciliation software
  • Identifying unreconciled items and take appropriate actions which include creating a finance system posting, raising queries with either bank, branch, internal stakeholders or external companies making sure that queries are resolved promptly
  • Working in conjunction with Senior Banking Assistant and / or Cash and Banking Manager to identity any risks and flag any breaches in control
  • Assisting auditors – internal and external – with documentation and information as required

This role is part of a team based from our Head Office in Warwick , with a mix of working from home and in the office, you will need to be able to travel into the office on certain days.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will need :

  • Experience in a Transactional Finance role is desirable
  • Intermediate level of MS Excel
  • Required to hold or work towards AAT qualification
  • Computer literate – able to use standard computer packages and understand up to date accounting software and processing techniques
  • Demonstrable Banking process knowledge
  • Awareness of the risks and controls required for an accurate bank reconciliation
