This is an exciting opportunity to support the Director of Public Health to lead on improving health and wellbeing in Lewisham as one of two Senior Consultants in Public Health within the Lewisham Public Health team.
What’s the role?
Senior Consultant in Public Health (Health Intelligence, Health Improvement and Healthcare Public Health)
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a broad public health portfolio covering elements of health improvement, health intelligence, health protection and healthcare public health, with a focus on achieving improved health outcomes in Lewisham and reducing health inequalities.
They will take a lead role on behalf of the Director of Public Health in developing strategic plans for securing health improvement both in the general population and in vulnerable groups at high risk of poor health and / or reduced life expectancy. This will be achieved by working in partnership with a range of agencies such as those in the statutory, non-statutory, voluntary and private sectors.
The post-holder will be responsible for leading a broad public health portfolio that includes providing strategic direction and oversight of Health Improvement (smoking cessation / tobacco control, healthy weight and CVD prevention), Health Intelligence and Healthcare Public Health work / initiatives in Lewisham.
Our ideal candidate will be on the GMC Specialist Register, the GDC Specialist List, or the UK Public Health Register for Public Health Specialists. If not currently listed, you will need to demonstrate inclusion within six months.

Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House in Catford, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.
