Job description

RMS are seeking a results-driven Compound Manager to lead our automotive logistics client’s automotive compound, ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, and top-tier customer service. You will oversee day-to-day operations, lead a team, and build strong client relationships to drive growth.Location : Baddesley & Stone (Dual site management)Company car will be provided.Permanent Contract About the Role : We’re looking for a leader to oversee inbound vehicle flows from European plants to UK hubs. You’ll drive operational excellence, ensure outstanding customer service, and foster strong client relationships. With a proactive approach, you’ll lead and motivate your team while optimising costs through continuous improvement and increased efficiency. You’ll also identify opportunities for contract growth through value-added services and enhanced partnerships.Key responsibilities of the role : Quality & Compliance – Ensure all activities align with client standards, SLAs, and client quality requirements. Conduct audits, minimise damages, and implement corrective actions.Resource & Cost Management – Plan labour needs using client forecasts, control costs through lean processes, and optimise transport clearance for inbound European volumes.Training & Safety – Maintain a safe, skilled workforce by identifying training needs, enforcing H&S policies, and reducing workplace incidents.Operational Control – Oversee stocktakes, manage compound maintenance, and ensure operational areas meet required standards.KPI Management – Accurately measure, report, and act on KPIs, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.Incident & Problem Resolution – Investigate accidents / incidents, implement preventative measures, and ensure effective handling of problem vehicles.Client & Business Development – Maintain strong client relationships, drive contract compliance, and identify growth opportunities within our clients operation.Support & Leadership – Provide leadership across the operation, ensuring efficiency, communication, and profitability while supporting wider functions when required.About you?Industry Knowledge – Experience in Automotive, Manufacturing, or Logistics, with an understanding of quality processes, KPIs, and financial awareness.Experience – Minimum 4 years in an operational management role within Automotive, Manufacturing, or Logistics.Skills & Competencies – Strong leadership, customer focus, and quality-driven approach. Understanding of lean management principles.Personal Qualities – Professional, self-motivated, and results-oriented. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. IT proficient (Microsoft Office).
