Job description

GMP Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client in Pershore who a hugely successful, within the automation industry. Due to continual growth and expansion, they are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join their team on a Temp to temp-to-perm basis.The ideal candidate will demonstrate previous experience in an Engineering company / environment with the ability to read engineer drawings to confidently handle orders and parts.As a Buyer, you will assist the Procurement Manager in the management of the company's Supplier Base, building long-term relationships with high-quality suppliers, ensuring they comply with the Company’s approval standards and the procurement function is operating efficiently and effectively.Buyer main duties : DIMENSIONS

  • Raise and maintain purchase orders for direct and indirect materials to support production requirements
  • Provide forecasts and schedules to suppliers where appropriate to maintain ongoing supply in line with customer demands
  • Actively manage and report supplier on time delivery performance – fully utilising typical orderbook management protocols to ensure material availability
  • Actively manage an open orderbook to control expenditure in line with customer demand and to support business cashflow
  • Liaise with Logistics and Accounts teams to manage Goods-In discrepancies to an effective conclusion
  • Monitor material receipts in line with schedules to help minimise Goods-In transactions error
  • Expedite material shortages as required to meet urgent business needs
  • Manage inventory levels, seeking opportunities to reduce inventory wherever practical
  • Negotiate pricing and contractual terms with suppliers for new and existing materials and services to drive cost reduction opportunities
  • Seek opportunities to install Kanban / direct line feed by commodity
  • Identify and select new suppliers for materials as and when required
  • Manage positive supplier partnership-based relationshipsFocussing on “best practice”, strive for and drive measurable process improvement opportunitiesBuyer desired skills and experience :
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in the same role and in a similar environment
  • Aptitude for figures and experience with managing a budget
  • Experience of developing and implementing Purchasing processes and procedures which drive improvements in material availability and inventory levels
