An opportunity has arisen to join a caring, supportive and dynamic team. Ward 32 is an acute cardiology ward with a 7 bed CCU and also a 7 bed day ward with staff rotation between the areas.

Main duties of the job

You will need to complete the care certificate programme and will be supported to do so. Health Care Assistants (HCA) are required to work within the multidisciplinary team ensuring the department is a safe, clean and welcoming place for patients, visitors and staff. Day to day tasks will primarily include supporting with a range of personal care activities and supporting individual patient needs during their hospital admission and promoting the physical and emotional well-being of the individuals under their care.

    Essential criteria

  • Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2) in Health & Social Care OR A good standard of general education to GCSE level and the agreement to undertake the relevant L2 qualification on appointment
  • Completion of the Care Certificate theory and practice standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience working in a clinical environment
  • Experience working in the NHS
  • Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria

    Should this vacancy be recruited as an apprenticeship, the following criteria will apply :

    UK nationals or other persons with a right of abode have an eligible residency status if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK or the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of the apprenticeship.

    Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing a DBS application is met by the successful applicant / s. DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following starting in post. If the post you are applying for requires a DBS - Inline with Trust policy the cost of submitting and processing a DBS for successful applications would be met by the individual themselves. The amount would vary depending on the level required : Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation). This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
