School of Science :

The School of Science at Loughborough University undertakes world-leading research and teaching in Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Mathematics Education and boasts state-of-the-art facilities and an active research community.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is a Top-15 Department in the UK for Mathematics, with high levels of student satisfaction reported in the National Student Survey and 100% of research impact rated `world-leading' or `internationally excellent' in the most recent nationwide Research Assessment framework exercise.

The Department is looking to recruit a Lecturer in the following area :

Applied Mathematics : Candidates in all areas of Applied Mathematics will be considered but preference may be given to candidates that can add strength to one or more of our existing research groups in Mathematical Modelling, Linear and non-linear waves, and Dynamical Systems.

Cross-disciplinary research in Applied Mathematics is focussed on two Research Centres which cross the boundaries of research groups and, indeed, Departments of the University. The mission of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical Modelling is to develop mathematical models for fundamental understanding of matter from the microscopic to macroscopic scales, and the Centre for Nonlinear Mathematics and Applications supports and enhances our research activities in nonlinear phenomena.

Successful candidates will have a record of academic excellence which is contributing to the furtherance of knowledge in their discipline. Candidates must also have a PhD or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate a clear trajectory towards achievement at a higher academic level.
