GSL Education is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in Newcastle, working within secondary schools.

The Role

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in creating and implementing individualized learning plans.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and promote positive social interactions.
  • Support students in developing coping strategies and emotional resilience.

Requirements

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping young people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
