Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 registered Mental Health Nurse to work within the Waltham Forest Home Treatment Team to support the continued development of our service. The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, proactive and dynamic individual who is keen to share and develop their skills within the management of clients experiencing acute mental illness.
A clear understanding of Home Treatment / Crisis Resolution Model of service delivery including Gate keeping and facilitating early discharges from the ward is viewed as essential for this role.
Main duties of the job
To ensure that assessments and care plans reflect the psychological, emotional, social care, treatment, intervention and risk management needs appropriate to adults with acute mental health problems.
As minimum criteria all staff employed by the Trust should have a basic competency for numeracy and literacy equivalent to NVQ level 2. If you are shortlisted for this post, you will be required to undertake an assessment for these skills prior to interview. Candidates who pass the assessment will then be invited to interview.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735) (pro rata for part time staff).
