HGV Mechanic£39,000-£44,000 Basic OTE £50,000Red Sky is seeking a talented and experienced HGV Mechanic to join client at Birmingham Airport. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our ground support equipment (GSE) fleet, keeping airside operations running efficiently and safely.As a HGV Mechanic What You'll Do : Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of GSE vehicles and equipment.Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.Maintain accurate and detailed service records for all GSE equipment.Collaborate with internal customers to understand their needs and provide exceptional service.Contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to all health and safety regulations.Participate in scheduled preventative maintenance (PPM) for GSE vehicles and equipment.Repair vehicles and plants as requested by the Workshop SupervisorCarry out inspections, brake and smoke tests and show all defects to the Workshop Supervisor before commencing with any repairs or booking out any partsDiagnose and inform the Workshop Supervisor of all work and parts required before commencing jobJob card / inspection sheet must be completed correctly to current point of repair and handed to the Workshop Supervisor at the end of each day's shift. All non-productive time is also to be added to the correct job card for authorisation by the Workshop SupervisorUpdate the Workshop Supervisor of any further work or parts required immediatelyPresent job cards at stores to enable parts to be suppliedInform the Workshop Supervisor of any VOR parts immediatelyAll booked parts used from workshop must on the front of job cards and all parts taken out of hours must be written on parts sheet as confirmationLabel parts and put them onto correct shelves, e.g. warranty or exchange unitInform the Workshop Supervisor immediately upon job completionQuarantine, label and report all defective tooling immediately to the site Workshop SupervisorReport any defective items immediately to the Workshop SupervisorAccurately complete and hand in manual daily time sheet after each day of shiftAs a HGV Mechanic we're looking for someone with : Class 1 / Class 2 HGV license A minimum of 5 years' experience in vehicle maintenance, preferably with GSE or HGV experience.Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills to identify and resolve equipment issues efficiently.A meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and customers.The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.A valid driver's licenseA clean criminal record check is mandatory for airside access.Motor mechanicsAnalytical and numerate with good communication skillsCustomer oriented / service delivery focusedGeneral knowledge of health and safety regulationsOperational vehicle / logistical background experienceExperience of working in a customer focused environmentExperience in the vehicle maintenance sectorAble to work on an on call roster HGV Mechanic Benefits : Competitive salary starting at £39,000 per year, with the opportunity to earn overtime (OTE £40-£45k).Monday - Friday (Apply online only) Comprehensive benefits package including company pension, employee discount scheme, on-site parking, and store discounts.The opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing environment at a major international airport.HGV Mechanic Qualifications : City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in Motor Mechanics Level 3 - essentialHGV / Plant DesirableForklift desirableIf you are an experienced HGV Mechanic and want to work for a compnay that reward hard work and offer progresion please apply today
