Location : Poole

Salary : Shift Engineer circa £51,000 / Shift Leader circa £56,000

Shift Pattern : 2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights (3 on 3 off)

We are recruiting for both an Engineering Shift Engineer and a Shift Leader to join a leading food manufacturing company in Poole. These roles are critical in ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment, with the Shift Leader additionally responsible for guiding a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance : Maintain adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental standards, including dynamic risk assessments and contractor management.

Quality & Food Safety : Ensure high standards of quality and food safety in production areas, maintaining clean and compliant workshops.

Maintenance & Reactive Support : Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance using a computerised maintenance management system, ensuring all tasks are logged accurately.

Continuous Improvement : Drive initiatives to enhance asset performance, collaborating closely with the production team.

Leadership & Development (Shift Leader) : Lead, motivate, and develop the engineering team, providing technical training and onboarding support. Cover for Engineering Leaders during absences, manage team workload, and attend relevant meetings.

Problem Solving : Apply logical fault diagnosis to complex electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

About You

Proven experience in engineering maintenance within a manufacturing environment.

Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach to diagnostics.

Leadership, motivational, and organisational skills (for Shift Leader role).

A proactive, can-do attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Ability to work collaboratively and supportively within a team.
