Mechanical Design Engineer - Taunton, Somerset

40,000 - £45,000

Clear progression routes, development & training opportunities, 25 days holiday + B / H, onsite parking. Our client is a leading manufacturer dedicated to producing products of exceptional quality. With a strong order book and growth into various export markets, they are looking for a Design Engineer to join their Engineering team.

Role & Responsibilities :

  • Research, plan, and develop new and improve existing design applications.
  • Prepare, produce, and modify design schemes, calculations, BOMs, and detailed drawings.
  • Complete projects within product development guidelines, including design for production and field service solutions, considering product performance, costs, and schedules.
  • Create designs using 2D & 3D CAD software, such as Inventor & SolidWorks.
  • Manage designs through to production and customer installation.
  • Review incoming engineering change and design requests from customers.
  • Ensure that service requirements are included in all designs.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience :

  • Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Highly competent in 2D & 3D modelling using Inventor & SolidWorks.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, metalworking, and plastics.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar mechanical design role.
  • Focused on delivering project solutions on time, within specifications and budget.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with the design team, customers, and production staff.
