About Us :
Bursting with culture, energy, and opportunity, the London Borough of Waltham Forest is a fantastic and exciting place to work.
We are a highly ambitious borough. Driven by culture and the innate creativity of our residents, we have developed new and innovative ways to build our communities. Our Council is relentlessly resident-focused, insight-led, digitally driven and commercially minded; a Council focused on meeting the needs of our existing and future residents.
London Borough of Waltham Forest is one of the Mayor of London's Good Work Standard employers. This accreditation is a proof of our commitment to creating a healthy, fair and inclusive workplace. This includes fair pay and conditions, workplace well-being, skills and progression and diversity and recruitment.
About the role :
If you have the passion, creativity and tenacity to make a real difference in people's lives we would love to hear from you.
As Housing Options Operations Manager you will strategically manage, develop, organise, and control the provision of advice and information to prevent homelessness and reduce admission into temporary accommodation. You will lead and develop approaches to manage the housing needs of residents and deliver the Borough's duties in relation to the Housing Act, the Homelessness Reduction Act, and other associated legislation.
You will be one of three Operational Managers reporting to the Head of Prevention and Assessment responsible for the full range of duties to residents that are homeless or in housing need.
We're looking for a confident and motivational Operations Manager, who is proactive, adaptable and can create an encouraging working culture focused on getting positive outcomes for our residents.
Your record of providing excellent outcomes for residents will be backed by a strong knowledge and understanding of homelessness legislation, as well as the practical day to day challenges that come with leading a Housing Options Service.
As an experienced manager, you'll understand how to manage a team working under pressure whilst delivering a first class service.
This is a varied role and other duties may include leading the development of funding bids or commissioning external partners to help us achieve our goals. You will be central in developing effective monitoring and reporting arrangements locally and nationally as required by Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, and other statutory bodies as necessary.
Key Responsibilities :
To strategically manage and develop a team of Housing Options Assessment Managers and the Officers within their teams. You will ensure systems are followed and developed where required. You will ensure a clear focus on preventing homelessness wherever possible and ensure your teams carry out the Borough's statutory duties in a timely and robust way. You will represent the Borough at key multi-agency partnership forums and boards.
This is a time of growth and change for our service and you will be a clear senior lead in developing and improving the Prevention and Assessment Service and our relationship with residents, assessing our service delivery from the resident's perspective and identifying areas for improvement.
