Architect Job in East Grinstead, West Sussex

Architect Job now available within a small specialist team in a larger practice. This role focuses on domestic projects involving the adaptation and extension of properties for individuals who have sustained injuries resulting in disabilities. It offers a unique opportunity to directly engage with clients on transformative, life-changing projects, making a deep understanding of client needs essential.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your architectural expertise to domestic projects that make a real difference. The focus is on adapting and extending homes for individuals who have become disabled due to injury, creating environments that meet their long-term needs.

The role would also offer the chance to work with the practices other teams on projects including cladding remediation, commercial fit-out and large-scale residential.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver domestic adaptation projects to meet client needs
  • Working on the production of drawing packages
  • Work under Senior Architects and the Expert Witness team
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations and produce / review technical drawing packages
  • Administer JCT Minor, Intermediate, and Full Contracts and coordinate site information
  • Lead and manage site meetings with contractors
  • Work with vulnerable individuals, applying empathy and strong communication skills to create their “forever home.”
  • Collaborate with a supportive team to develop skills across domestic adaptation, cladding remediation, commercial fit-out, and larger residential projects.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of industry experience in a related architectural role
  • Strong experience in JCT contract administration is essential
  • Ability to use Revit
  • Excellent technical detailing knowledge in domestic residential projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of building regulations
  • Experience in designing accessible environments is an advantage
  • Empathy and excellent interpersonal skills for working with individuals who have experienced trauma
  • Confidence in leading site meetings and coordinating project information.
