Job summary

An exciting new opportunity for the role of AHP Practice Education Facilitator within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust!

The student placement expansion project established a range of clinical placements across Gloucestershire Health and Care the value of, and justification for, a AHP Practice Education Facilitator became clear.

This range of clinical placements have to be utilised and maintained. This role will suit a Registered Allied Health Professional who is passionate to invest in our future workforce. The PEF willsupport practice educatorsin practice, design and share educational resources, and (if appropriate) clinical skills andtheir expert knowledge. Engaging with Practice Educators to identify how students can be encouraged to embrace every opportunity to apply theory or evidence base to practice and interact with multi-disciplinary team members and service users / patients from a positive and informed position.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to :

  • Enable students and team-based practice educators to identify learning styles and facilitate and encourage learning Embed peer to peer collaborative learning incorporating a coaching style Identify develop and upload student teaching / learning resources and enabling learners and practice educators to maximise their potential to enhance learning in a clinical setting To have oversight of placement allocations, recognising 'pinch points' and where time invested with student and practice educators would be of most benefit and ease pressure on clinical teams Supporting clinical teams to fully implement CLIP coaching models Providing professional support and facilitation for unit managers / team leaders, practice supervisors and assessors to provide quality work-based placements to enable staff to develop the right skills, values and behaviours to deliver high quality, safe patient care To work collaboratively with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to realise the required Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) education standards to prepare registrants to fulfil professional standard proficiencies.

    Gloucestershire Healthcare providers rely on Universities to prepare future healthcare professionals. In response to existing and projected workforce shortages Universities have increased the numbers of students on healthcare programmes.

    To qualify in their respective professions all healthcare students are required to gain experience in a range of practice settings.

    The Education Everyones Business One Gloucestershire Student Placement Expansion Project brought together healthcare provider organisations to discuss and realise the clinical placement expansion required to support the additional students to gain the practice experience and skills they need to become confident and competent registered healthcare professionals.

    Having established the range of clinical placements it is vital these are utilised and maintained, and we constantly review and realise the potential of further opportunities to expose our future healthcare professionals to (particularly as they evolve and transform) clinical settings and care.

    Ensuring students have a quality clinical placement and learning experience across clinical practice environments is critical; we rely on prepared, committed practice educators, supervisors and assessors directly providing support in learning and assessment in practice activities to develop and deliver quality assured placements for students.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Current HCPC Professional Registration
  • Qualification to demonstrate Post Graduate Academic study in Education, Coaching and or Supervision
  • Evidence of continued CPD, including evidence of reflective practice and utilisation of best practice
  • Length and / or nature of experience

    Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in supporting learners in practice, mentoring and supervision
  • Knowledge of a range of healthcare services to include community services and / or in-patient mental health and community physical health and / or outpatient community physical health
  • Experience in providing education and training / supervision for under- and post-graduate students and other healthcare professionals in this clinical area
  • Desirable

  • Experience in teaching skills and / or knowledge to a diverse range of adults and / or children including students, service users, carers or relatives
  • Professional / managerial / specialist knowledge

    Essential

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills to handle group facilitation, 1 : 1 coaching and challenging situations
  • Analytical and problem solving skills specifically a knowledge of and ability to apply and utilise evidence based practice, including National guidelines to deliver, evaluate and audit the service
  • Dynamic and enthusiastic individual who can support, encourage and motivate others, strong interpersonal, communications and presentational skills, and a professional and confident manner
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, verbal, non-verbal and written to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and other partners
