Job description

Job Details

Fife Council’s Out of School Clubs sit within the Education Directorate. The Out of School Clubs provide childcare to school aged children before and after school, as well as during school holidays.

Childcare Practitioners :

  • Plan and supervise activities with children and young people
  • Organise play area, provide appropriate material and equipment
  • Give children and young people the freedom to spend their leisure time in their own way
  • Encourage independence, build self-esteem, and support children to try new skills and experiences
  • Provide healthy and nutritious snacks taking account of dietary and nutritional needs
  • Support children and young people on a one-to-one bases when required
  • Deal with injuries and emergencies
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals
  • Support the Senior Childcare Practitioner with record keeping

The Person

We are looking for someone who :

  • Has experience of working with children and young people within a play, care or learning setting
  • Is willing to work towards the SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) or already holds a suitable qualification
  • Is fun, engaging, adaptable, passionate about working with children and young people

  • You are required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period.

    Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
