The project :

Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes. It will be a close copy of Hinkley Point C which is already under construction in Somerset. These new power stations will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved right from the start of such a historic project. Work to date has primarily focused on enabling works for site readiness. Civils work is commencing with great speed in the following areas : road, rail, fencing, security, water systems, utilities, and the build of modular and industrial facilities.

You'll be responsible for :

  • Preparing contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses and assist formal execution by the appropriate parties.
  • Advising on administration of the terms of the contract.
  • Measuring and provides valuations of the work carried out and adjust variations in accordance with the terms of the contract and agree with the contractor.
  • Providing cost control and reporting services during the contract.
  • Preparing financial reports for the client in the form and at the frequency required.
  • Identifying all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.
  • Participating in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors / suppliers.
  • Advising on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.

  • Measuring and providing valuations of the work carried out and adjust variations in accordance with the terms of the contract and agree with the contractor.

  • Identifying all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.
  • Participating in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors / suppliers.
  • Advising on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
  • Advising on issue of certificates of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions and
  • Delivering improvements in systems and processes, driving transformational change.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
  • You'll need to have :

  • A degree in quantity surveying / cost management (or equivalent) and are a chartered professional member (RICS or CIOB).
  • Proven experience working in high performing teams within a commercial environment.
  • A good working knowledge of contracts (particularly NEC), change control, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling.
  • Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering service excellence to clients.
  • A construction background, ideally in cost or commercial management and be keen to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
