Grade / Hay Score : SE88 (Nights)

Location : 2 x Acton Works and 1 x Stratford (will be required to work across the network)

Contract Type : LU / Permanent

Working hours : Mon-Fri Nights at Acton Works and Sun-Thu Nights at Stratford

Safety Critical : Yes

Overview of project / role : Reporting to a Works Controller (LV Cables) and is responsible for assisting senior staff in ensuring that the Cables Assets are maintained and delivered into service in a safe and timely manner. In addition to this, is to support other London Underground and wider TfL business units whenever instructed to by their Line Manager.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Gather information
  • Report lack of information to relevant persons
  • Assemble tools, equipment and materials
  • Check tools, equipment and materials for fitness for purpose
  • Deal promptly and effectively with problems within his / her control
  • Report to others deviations which cannot be solved
  • Follow the correct process / operations for the allocated task
  • Establish and maintain communication with the relevant persons
  • Take action to rectify the defective asset

Skills :

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Engineering / Technical discipline. Essential.
  • Holds, or is able to hold, up to Protecting Workers on the Track (PWT) certification. Essential.
  • Holds, or is able to hold, prescribed skills training and safety courses. Essential.
  • Good interpersonal, numerical and written skills. Essential.

    • Knowledge :

  • Basic electrical understanding. Essential.
  • Understands railway environment. Essential.
  • Working knowledge of DC (Traction and Non-Traction) and LV & HV AC power systems. Essential.

    • Experience :

  • Experience in LV Cables maintenance and installation. Essential.
  • Experience of maintaining and installing LV Cable assets in LU Depots, Stations / Buildings and on Track. Essential.
