Are you a Mining Engineer or Geologist? Do you have a good understanding of basic Mine planning principles, methodologies and techniques?
As a Mining Planning Engineer, for Imerys you will be involved in defining reserves to access raw material for BA operations. Your role is to provide Mine optimisation, analysis, design and mine planning / scheduling across mining sites in Cornwall.
The key tasks and your responsibilities :
- Provide medium to long term planning to support extraction of the mineral assets,
- Create long term schedules for waste dumps,
- Create pit and dump designs to ensure optimisation of operational resource and maintain production and quality targets,
- Support the operating schedules and budget process,
- To provide support to mining and production managers and professionals in operations and projects,
- To train the sites engineers in short term and mid-term mine planning,
- To ensure any work related to the public reporting of Reserves is undertaken in compliance with the PERC code.

Excellent IT skills together with familiarisation of one of the major designs and Mine planning software packages; such as GEOVIA (Surpac, Whittle, MineSched), Datamine (NPVS), RPM global (XPAC).Knowledge of GIS and surveying would be an advantage.Degree level in Science or Engineering, ideally Mining engineering or Mining Geology.Direct and relevant experience working in a mining environment.Production experience necessary with a few years relevant experience in mine planning and mine designs in the mining environment.Have the intention to register as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer following professional training and experience.Full driving licenceWe would like our application process to be accessible to all - if you require an alternative way to apply then please get in touch on 01952 281924.
