The White Pine County Aquatic Center is seeking applicants for the position of Head Guard.
DEFINITION : Under direct supervision, enforces water safety regulations and oversees swimmers at swimming facility, promoting patron health, enjoyment, and safety; cleans and maintains facilities.

Possess an American Red Cross Lifeguard or Lifeguard Training certification; American Red Cross CPR certification; American Red Cross First Aid certification; Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator certification or ability to become certified within one year. A valid Nevada driver’s license.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL / INTELLECTUAL REQUIREMENTS : The physical and mental / intellectual requirements described herein are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Strength and stamina to constantly position self in stationary positions for long periods of time. Dexterity and ability to move on slippery and uneven surfaces. Strength and ability to maintain sustained physical exertion. Ability to observe and detect swimmers in distress and efficiently perform rescue techniques. Visual acuity sufficient to see work performed in a variety of lighting conditions, including bright light, low light, and low visibility conditions; depth perception sufficient to maneuver tools. Ability to tolerate exposure to constant noise, solvents, and chemicals. Strength, dexterity, and ability to transport up to 50 pounds frequently; over 100 pounds with proper equipment or assistance. The ability to interact professionally, communicate effectively, and exchange information accurately with all staff and customers.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Work is performed under the following conditions : Internal and external environments with exposure to inclement weather, and varying temperatures, wind, wet and / or humid conditions. Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions / situations including toxic fumes or caustic chemicals. Frequent interruptions; and works closely with others; occasionally dealing with difficult or emotional situations. The noise level is usually moderate to extremely loud.
Position Hours
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
Pay Rate
Grade 121 (Steps X-3 DOE) $17.46-20.82
