MPI have a requirement for an Electrical Production Manager to work on site in CambridgeThis is a contract role for approximately 12 months.Rate of pay £35.00 per hr PAYE - negotiableThis role is deemed in scope of IR35Applicants need to have had 18th Edition experience in the past but have held a supervisory position (Manager / supervisor / team leader / site foreman etc) in some capacity recently.Purpose of the position : -Responsible for the Operations of Electrical production. Providing leadership to the team of Electrical Installation and Test Engineers. Supporting supervisors in coordinating workloads, managing performance issues, and ensuring quality standards are maintained whilst fostering a safe working culture and ensuring on-time delivery to the master plan.The Electrical Production Manager is key to ensuring compliance working with the Duty Officer to govern electrical installations across all projects , empowering the supervisors to train and audit the installations to the latest legislation.AccountabilityResponsibilities : Reporting to the Land Systems Head of Operations, the role is as follows : Fully responsible and accountable for the allocated Electrical area for all SQCDP metrics. Providing leadership to the team of Electrical Installation and Test Engineers. Manage Electrical team supervisors in coordinating workloads and ensuring quality standards are maintained whilst fostering a safe working culture and ensuring on-time delivery to the master plan. Ensure that all resources are working at the right levels of responsibility, and managing performance issues, provide additional training as part of the PDR process as required.Proactively promote a health & safety culture that is aligned with the MLS health & safety management system. Create a continuous improvement environment within the workplace to drive and improve efficiencies in line with business cost reduction initiatives. Taking ownership of local policies and procedures and ensuring they are adhered toActively engage the team to create a positive mindset that will deliver all milestones and KPIs, and where necessary proactively provide recovery plans with route cause analysis and problem solving from lessons learned. Create an autonomous team that provide a can-do attitude working legally, morally, and ethically.Tasks : Support SQCDP (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people) level 2 meetings and escalate issues to level 1 as appropriateEnsure that manning levels and skill requirements are aligned to the production plan, and consider future capacity requirements through the SOP (sales and operation planning process) Submit yearly budgets in line with production requirements and CAPEX / control and forecastingSupport the MLS bid team from a production perspective to enable the bid process to progress efficientlyEnsure regular performance reviews are undertaken with all supervisors; role model and ensure supervisors recognise strong operational performance and act on under-performance without hesitationTo carry out succession planning to develop team members into future roles within the businessAttending senior leadership meetings as directed in line with business requirementsCapabilityBehavioural Competencies : Pro-active Leadership style with the ability to use initiative and work independently and as a part of a team.Lead a culture of inclusivity and encourage collaboration among diverse people to bring them togetherContinually drive up operational performance, set stretching goals for own teams, reward high performance and excellence; are pragmatic, seize opportunities to improve performance and efficiencyFlex approach and style during change; Adapt to respond to changing circumstances using situational judgement; show high level of discretion; flex leadership style to different stakeholdersRole model a coaching style of leadership, encourage leaders of teams to take a similar approach with their teams;Understand and be able to articulate to individuals how they can contribute to the development of the capabilities of the team, directly through their own development or through helping their colleagues, including using unique personal characteristicsBring up uncomfortable issues of importance, to discuss and resolve; address any potential issues timely and constructivelyTechnical Competencies : Knowledge of Electrical Installation construction, inspection and test.Competent in Electrical manufacturing and processes and techniques.Understanding of policies and procedures required to manage a team within a workshop environment i.e. Health and Safety, Fire and Environmental Policies.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5s techniques.Team Appraisals / PDR’s.Ability to interact with all members of the team and possible customer interface.Consistent proven application to related tasks with a strong positive attitude.Proficient with MS suite, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and MRP.Good standard of Written and verbal skills.Contribute to BU / functional strategy; translate into a vision for own areaMake timely and sound decisions with limited information and closely monitors execution and timelines; take a pragmatic approach to tackling issues within own function or business unit; only involve those who really need to be involvedEducation : City and Guilds Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent.City & Guilds qualification for BS 7671 Electrical Wiring Regulations.City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation Inspection & Testing. IOSH Managing safely certification preferable.Preferable to have Leadership qualification, CMI, LM.Experience : Substantial experience in Electrical manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques. Demonstrable experience managing a diverse team of individuals in electrical trade.Proven ability to be able to lead a team through a period of strategic change, and ability to create winning teamsDesirable understanding and ability to read engineering drawings and associated design data.Additional local needsThis role is required to be based on-site full timeThere may be occasional travelThere may a need for flexibility to meet the needs of the projects as required
