Empower learners to succeed with essential life skills

25–£30 per hour | Flexible hours | Local placements in homes or libraries

Are you looking for a more flexible way to use your teaching experience while still making a real difference?

We’re currently looking for dedicated and approachable tutors to deliver Functional Skills support in English and Maths to learners in the Broughton (M7) area. These pupils are often out of mainstream education and need a helping hand to build confidence, gain qualifications, and re-engage with learning in a practical, meaningful way.

Tuition usually takes place on a one-to-one basis , either in the pupil’s home or in community venues like libraries .

About the role :

Delivering tailored Functional Skills sessions in Maths and English (up to Level 2)

Supporting pupils aged 14–19, often with gaps in education

Creating engaging lessons that focus on real-world application

Helping learners work towards qualifications or build confidence in basic skills

Flexible scheduling – sessions run during school hours, weekdays only

Who this is ideal for :

You’ll do well in this role if you :

Have experience delivering Functional Skills or basic Maths and English

Can plan and adapt learning based on individual needs and levels

Are confident working with young people who may have additional needs or barriers

Are patient, consistent, and able to build rapport quickly

Are familiar with working in a non-traditional or community-based setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
