Job description

Techniche Global are supporting a leading automotive manufacturer to appoint a Connected Cars Validation Engineer.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support the Electrical & Electronic (EE) Test team with :
  • End to End system validation for connected car telematics systems in line with project schedules.
  • Interoperability testing of connected systems.
  • Creation of test plans to meet project and design milestones.
  • Confirming vehicle level quality, function & reliability standards are maintained when changes are implemented.
  • Conducting root cause investigation of complex concerns on vehicles.
  • Confirmation of vehicle specification and test parts required for testing.
  • Using industry standard management systems such as JIRA and TestRail.
  • Providing technical support and software management for the vehicle manufacturing plant and the vehicle test fleet.
  • Management of suppliers, technicians, and guest engineers.

Qualifications and Experience Required :

  • Relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic system development, completing a minimum of two vehicle developments, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, with potential for longer or short notice travel.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of software programming and software quality assurance.
  • Experience of software application into vehicle ECUs in the manufacturing environment – flashing, coding / configuration, and calibration.
  • Experience in risk assessing software modifications and developing appropriate test plans.
  • Experience of validating multiple software versions simultaneously and prioritizing validation activities.
  • Understanding of network communications and multiple bus principles (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Ability to operate CANalyzer, CANoe, Matlab software, or similar for capturing data, analysis of data, and preparing / executing test procedures.
  • Experience with offboard telematics systems including servers, network providers, and commercial software applications.
  • Ability to follow system circuit diagrams and identify electrical connections.
  • Practical experience in problem-solving tools and techniques (e.g., Kepner Tregoe / Six Sigma) and conversant with digital oscilloscopes and basic electrical test equipment.
